Tiki Rule #67 Do not leave a mark.

A positive traveling experience is within reach if you practice three key courtesies: treating those you meet and those who serve you with respect, keeping your requests reasonable, and always remembering that as a guest, you should not leave a mark (be it physical litter or a negative impression). With these in mind, a week at your aunt's, an overnight at your friend's or a weekend at a B&B will all run that much smoother.  http://www.emilypost.com/out-and-about

This can also be said about the place you live and our environment.

Pink Tropical Graduation Cake

Pink Tropical Graduation Cake

Congratulations to all the high school and college graduates out there! You've worked hard all those years and you deserve a party and a fabulous cake!  One of our most recent cakes, shown above, was made for a woman graduating from law school and asked for a pretty tropical cake with a stylized Hawaiian floral pattern found on her invitation.  The party took place at Tiki's Grill & Bar, outside on the lanai, under the stars, and across the street from Waikiki Beach.  We love working at Tiki's and have fond memories there of many dinners, drinks and parties over the years, including our Food Network Challenge viewing party last April.  There was a live Hawaiian band playing and the temperature was in the '70's -- an absolutely perfect setting for a fun, tropical themed graduation party.  Rick selected taller tiers for this cake to give it a dramatic appearance, and the bright pink color gave it a pop that was quite striking!  Our client chose two tropical flavors for her cake, Guava Lava, which has a pretty pink color that would match the cake perfectly, and Coconut Pineapple Chunk, which is moist, delicious and coconut-y.  We were very happy with the cake and hope our client had a blast at her party!

Before Twitter and Facebook there was Melissa Chang

It was great to have Melissa Chang @Melissa808 stop in with friends from the online community of Fodors, they call it GTG (short for Get ToGether). She then wrote a cool blog post about life before Facebook and the newer "social media." She was connecting online before twitter was cool.  Below is a little taste of what she wrote and a few photos Melissa took:

Most people nowadays know me for my online activity on Twitter and Facebook, and primarily on a local level. But did you know that I’ve been active online in other communities for more than a decade? I had gotten into different online communities like Epicurious.com and iVillage.com, but none were as satisfying or helpful as Fodors.com (mostly because I’m addicted to traveling).

Another new item: Kal bi gyoza ($11). These beefy fried dumplings sit on a drizzle of kabayaki sauce and miso chili aioli. Locals will like these, but they are perfect for out of town guests who want to try something exotic but aren't really adventurous.
