Colin Nishida, chef and owner of Side Street Inn at 1225 Hopaka St., said the new restaurant is slated to open in late fall in the Prudential Locations office building at 614 Kapahulu Ave. bordering the Ala Wai Golf Course and Date Street.

The new location will be called Side Street Inn on Da Strip and is promised to feature the same 'ono grinds and relaxed atmosphere of the original Side Street Inn, though operating hours will be limited to the evening.

"Kapahulu is a great up-and-coming area, and we are excited to open our third location to attract new clientele," Nishida said in a statement.

Side Street Inn opened in 1992 on Hopaka Street, a cramped two-block-long road with no sidewalks near Ala Moana Center, and evolved from a sports bar with a limited food menu to a no-frills restaurant known for its pork chops, fried rice and following of local celebrity chefs. Nishida also operates Fort Street Bar & Grill downtown.

The new restaurant will operate in a roughly 5,800-square-foot ground-floor space seating about 180, including a private dining room. Parking is in the building, which Prudential bought in 2006. The restaurant will be open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Good Luck Colin!
